Overview of Collections

Special Collections - These categories of collections are referred to as Special Collections because of the peculiarity of their nature. They comprise of rare, unique and fragile materials which based on their research and cultural values, the Library has preserved them exclusively for researchers. Access to the collections usually is under supervision to avoid theft and items are available for use only to individuals conducting research on a related topic.

The special collections are mostly made up of resources either donated or bequeathed to the University Library by outstanding scholars in varying fields of study. They include; Individual Manuscripts, Photographs, Books and the personal publications of the donors. Others are important Archives (documents of enduring value) of the University of Lagos.

The collections are stored and made available to users at the Research and Bibliographic Department of the Library (Gandhi Library)
