Dr. (Mrs.) Yetunde Abosede Zaid, appointed as the University Librarian by the Governing Council of the University of Lagos on 14th March 14, is responsible for the University Library and all its network. The University of Lagos Library is one of the 10 top university libraries in Nigeria with significant collections in all subjects. The library’s highly regarded research services support the students and faculty as well as students and researchers from other institutions and the citizens of Nigeria. She is presently overseeing the Library’s move to integrate digital resources to serve the academic community.
Yetunde earned her bachelor’s degree from Olabisi Onabanjo University, Masters and PhD in Library and Information Studies from the University of Ibadan. In addition to her academic qualification, she is a Certified Librarian of the Librarian’s Registration Council of Nigeria. She is also a Fulbright Scholar. She won the African Research Fulbright Senior Scholar program and completed the nine months fellowship at the James S. Coleman Africa Studies Center, University of California, Los Angeles in May 2017. She has attended notable conferences and workshops in Nigeria, Africa, Europe, and United States of America. She is a member of various professional bodies and currently the Secretary of the Lagos Studies Association, an interdisciplinary international association of academic and non-academic practitioners.
Yetunde has been an academic librarian since 2002, specializing in information service structures, strategic aspects of information literacy development, and library information and knowledge management. Her works have appeared in leading local and international journals of Library and Information Studies. She is committed to advanced teaching, learning and research through proper and effective utilization of library and information resources
